Hello, I've been using a different Linux distribution so far and decided to give Zorin a try. I really like it. I wanted to test out the look of MacOS.
It's working pretty well so far. I built my own dash with Plank and then added it to my startup folder.
Unfortunately, the start screen now looks like this:
You'll likely have to install an extension to the desktop environment as this is, unfortunately, something that is hard-coded into it. I found this one that seems to work fine:
By installing the Extension Manager from the software store.
Through the official website for Gnome extensions.
Manually, by downloading the extension files and placing them at the right location inside your user's home directory.
The first one is my preferred because, as you can see from the screenshot above, it's obvious when an extension is not compatible with the current version of Zorin OS.
However, he search functionality is horrible... sometimes you need to type the exact name, sometimes you need to type something close enough, and you will almost certainly have to play around with the sorting from the drop-down.
But it's there, so give that a try.
If what you mean is that you want to show your own dock made through Plank on the activities overview, I don't think that's possible even with an extension. At least, none that I found. You can still hide the default dock from there if you want using, you guessed it, another extension Let me know if you need any pointers on that.
I have moved this from "Customisation" to "General Help" which I feel is a better fit and may generate more replies (and will allow Solution to be marked). Zab
