HELP! I just lost my two USB-C ports on my laptop

Running Zorin 17.3 core. My laptop (ASUS Zenbook UX325EA) has two USB-C ports. They stopped working. The power cable uses one of them, my wireless mouse and keyboard uses another (with a USB adapter). I am now running on battery as I type this. I tried switching ports with the power cable - no difference. I was able to put the dongle in the one USB3 port so I can type this.

Is there a linux terminal command I use to query the state of my ports? Nothing in the settings panel that I can see. Is it possible that I did something to "turn-off" the ports? I did install libusb-dev with: sudo apt install libusb-dev in terminal. Rebooted - Did not notice a difference. Switched mice with a different dongle and rebooted again. That's when my problems started. At first I thought it was my adapter, but I plugged my power cable directly into both USB-C ports and saw that the battery was still draining. I also have an audio cable adapter to USB-C. I don't get any sound in the headphones, just the speakers. So it appears that the ports are just not working.

Well, I looked up some info on the Asus laptops. I found a suggestion to leave it off for an hour or so and then when I turn it on, hold the power button down for like 15 seconds. The system will not boot. It did just that the power light came on but it went back off again as I held down the key. I do know if the system ever "freezes" holding the power button for about 8 seconds will force a hard power off. So this seems to be a similar thing. So I tried to start again and it now recognizes the two USB-C ports. The sound tests ok and the battery is recharging. Of course I don't know for sure if that did it or the problem just corrected itself...

The thing is, if I were on Windows I would have looked in Device Manager to see the status of the ports and if they were enabled or not.
Does Linux have something like that? I don't see it in the settings. There must be something at least in the Terminal that can give the status of the ports (USB, HDMI, audio etc.).
