Help! My Resolution is Stuck too low!

To give some context... My computer was shutoff improperly and when I managed to boot it again, it was stuck at 1024x768 resolution (4:3), the display partition is under:

xrandr-None-1 Monitor

While my monitor's (LG Ultragear 24') resolution is 1920x1080! For more context, I attempted to re-install NVIDIA drivers to no avail, I attempted to add new resolution through xrandar to no avail, and I attempted to simply plug out and plug back in my monitor to, yet again, no avail!

Hi and welcome.

If your system was shutdown improperly it might have interfered with any updates being installed.

When you get to the login screen, drop to a tty prompt by pressing Ctrl+ Alt+ F3.

You will see a terminal open with a prompt for login. Enter your username, press Enter and a new line appears for your login password. Note you might not see any asterisks when you type in your password, so be cautious and don't type too quickly to avoid password rejection - you get three attempts.

Next type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

This will require you to enter your ligin password again to elevate you to 'root' (think Administrator in that other OS), and then press Enter.

Let the comnand run then after it has completed, reboot your machine.

In respect of your sound issue, please open a new thread by copying and pasting what you have pisted, then delete the post about audio in this thread.
