After the update issue yesterday giving me a kernel panic I am wanting only security updates. I my software repository ( in the updater) I have all these checked.
What do I need and what can i uncheck.
If I try to expand the system components where I see things for Ubuntu 7 (which caused all the problems) and try to uncheck them it freezes and I cannot
How do I let/force zorin upgrade Kernel 6.17.0-23 to a later version of 6.17 without getting kernel 7 installed
Do You have installed the -40 Update for the 6.17 Kernel and run now in it? You can check that with the Command uname -r and when it should show the Kernel, type sudo update-grub and then it should be fine.
You can test it. Reboot and see when logged in with the uname -r Command if it is still the Kernel.
this computer ( I have 2 running zorin) had 6.17-35 (and I am good with that), in my Timeshift that I used to restore after Kernel Panic. Why did zorin boot into Kernel 7 after the update if this was set to "save" already.
Above in this thread I posted from what I believe you are calling software updater and I don't see where to untick kernel updates

When a Kernel Update is offered, You can untick the Packages. It is not a common Setting.
Unfortunately, I don't have a good Example a Screenshot saved, where I could show You. But when You use the Software Updater, You get a List with Packages that can be updated. And at the Beginning, You have Markers. And You can unmark them. It looks similar to this:

You are a genius. I updated this laptop to version 6.17-40 and it worked great.
I did find in the software updater under Security Udates/System Components, 8 items that referenced Kernel 7. I unchecked all of them and ran the updates and no Kernel 7.
Do you think that on the forum there will be a notice when Kernel 7 is safe to try?
