How Do I copy and paste files from my Windows external hdd to my zorin hdd

How do I select the files I want. The shift key isn't working very well

Try holding the Ctrl Key and selecting each item you want to transfer. Hope this helps!

You can use the Mouse, make a Right-Click and choose the Copy Option.

While in the Windows file manager, or in Zorin OS, Nautilus file manager, I simply hold down CTRL & hit C to copy a file/files. Then when viewing the other drive, I simply hold CTRL & hit V to paste. Or, you could right click with the mouse as well, as copy/paste options are available in the mouse right click menu.

Another trick you can do, (A time-saver for those who need to copy multiple files) Keep holding down CTRL while you left click on each file to be copied.

Will make a copy/paster out of you yet!

olding the Ctrl Key and selecting each item you want to transf
Okay, thanks gang,

Here is my problem. I have like over a thousand text documents, word files and PDF files. How do I put them in my zorin documents? If I select the first file and click the last file while holding down the shift key I lose the first file. I can click Cntl over each file but that would take a very long time.

Did you check your keyboard shortcuts if there are conflicts so that the shift key doesn't work correctly?

And when You use Your Mouse? Let the left Mouse Key pressed and then move over all Files. Or press ctrl+a to select all Files at once. Then You don't have to select each one seperately.

If they are in a directory and you want to copy all of them, move up one level, right click on the directory and select copy to ... If they are not in a directory and you want to copy all of them, go into the location and do ctl-a to select all then right click and select copy command.

I think @Ponce-De-Leon's answer would help:
