First I am for all practical purposes, windows user. "limited exp." with linux. I have used linux but not for very long time. And my exp was limited to a specific use "NAS"
I went without a pc for about a decade, and then finally built a new machine "last year", so that my whole world would not be on a phone all the time.
So as it goes you are rekindling your love for pc's. And oh boy did a lot of things change.
So after getting bored and upset at Microsoft. I figured I would explore linux again. I did what every person does and looked at YouTube. And what I found was exiting and compelling. With 2 distro in my sites. Both Zorin and Mint.
I will say that I really like both. Having said that, I feel like Mint did not have as many minor issues. Overall I am very pleased with Zorin. I just think that new users will feel the same way I do. And I want Zorin to succeed. So I will say that sometimes the basics are better than bright lights. So a stable exp. from the get go speaks volumes. I am capable, and have time for forums, but not everyone does. So clean and no hiccups is ultimately what people want.
So sometimes you need to remember that your audience knows nothing about linux. This part I undertand it is troubling. because you cant keep fixing the wheel over and over.
Thanks to everyone here who has put there time in to helping others, like me.

WOW, 10-years is a long time to go without a computer. I am aware that the younger generations do everything on their phones, but I never could. When it comes to watching shows/movies, playing games, I have to do that on a computer, hooked up to a lovely 32" monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and or controller.
Phones are great for what they are designed for, portability. When I sit down on a couch in my home, the last thing I want, is to be using my phone. I know the feeling as well. When your using computer's in the 90's, then leave that era of computing. Fast forward a decade, lots change in computing.
For me, it was wrapping my head around 64-bit computing and why we needed it, over 32-bit CPU's. All of this predated multiple core CPU's, and software had to be written to make use of 64-bit CPU's. Then dual core came out shortly after, then quad core, 8-core, now their up to gazillion cores ridiculous junk.
Tech moves faster then most of us can keep up with it. The biggest issue, is tech costing more and more each year, that building computer's, is now out of reach, for most people.

I agree with you that Mint is generally a smoother, more trouble-free option. But the reason Zorin looks so much better than Mint is the GNOME DE plus the extensions that give it the polish and functionality that it has. But those extensions can sometimes lead to instability. Mint offers a more barebones, highly stable and functional desktop without the eye-candy of Zorin.
