How to completely apply theme

Hi,
I am using Otis theme, even tried Juno, nordic, but never got File manager (Files) themed, Settings etc. What I am doing wrong ?

Thanks

It would be helpful to know what exactly you did. Does the theme you choose apply to anything at all?

Also, if you are using Zorin OS 17 or 18.

Zorin OS 18 is steeped in more gtk4 and LibAdwaita - these removed a great deal of classes and forgiving specifity that was present in GTK3 and also uses LibAdwaita to inject Gnomes Prefered Styling to override user customization and themes, so that Gnome can control you far more than Microsoft ever did.

I downloaded theme from : GitHub - EliverLara/Otis: An elegant dark theme for gnome . Then I applied it , and it is applied just for shell and panel. Also I am on Zorin 18 beta

This may be very obvious, but you did apply it to both applications and shell, right? Those two are separate. It could explain why only the shell and taskbar were affected.

Please scroll down to:
Warning You may notice visual inconsistencies when using some third-party themes. This is because some themes may not be fully compatible with the apps and graphical libraries in Zorin OS 17.
Then read below that in order to see how to get a theme to apply to LibAdwaita governed gtk4 applications.

Then try the Following: Open the Folder of the Theme and there search for the Folder called gtk-4.0 and go in this Folder. Then active in the File Manager the ''Show hidden Files'' Option (Look at the Top left the 3 Lines, click on them and click on the Option)In this Folder, You create an empty .txt File. You rename the File to .libadwaita

Important: Let the File empty and only rename it! Then save it, make a Reboot and switch to Your Theme and look if it works.

I'm a total newbie to the whole linux arena, having tried 7 or 8 different flavours I have landed here with Zorin 18 beta. Having read through this thread I realise how big a learning curve I have set myself in my "conversion" from
windows 10/11. :slightly_smiling_face:
