Hydrapaper not working in Zorin

I have a 2-monitor, dual-boot with Windows, setup. I would like to have different background on each. I've tried HydraPaper, but it provided just a garbled, unreadable window. I previously had Mint installed, and HydraPaper worked fine, but Mint was prone to locking up, both on my main machine and my laptop. if there are there any alternatives to HydraPaper, I can't find them. Suggestions, anyone?

Hello,
Are you on Xorg or Wayland ?
to know do this in terminal

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

I used Hydrogen on Zorin Core - I just checked and it is in the 17 and 18 repositories.

sudo apt install hydrogen

When it worked on Mint ... it runs still in Xorg by default if I'm not wrong. And Zorin runs in Wayland by default (if You don't have installed it with Nvidia Drivers).

So, switching could be a good first Thing to try. To switch, go to the Login Screen. Click there on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.

Just keep in mind that later Nvidia Cards and Nvidia Drivers will try Wayland by default. Only older drivers are will kick in the switch to X11 automatically.
The claim is that the newer Nvidia Drivers are Wayland compliant - but with all things with Wayland: Incomplete.
