I have a client (Grandma) running Zorin 12.4 When to update to 18.1?
She barely knows the difference between her tower computer and her monitor.
I have just recently dropped Windows 11 and started using Zorin 18. Since the update to 18.1 there have been a flurry of updates and issues with my dual monitors, printer/scanner and sound. I would like the dust to settle before I update her system, which is running 10 year old AMD hardware.
How long should I waite to upgrade her?
theres gonna be alot of questions on that like what processor does it have how much ram what vid card and best of all is that even sata? for a faster hard drive
you will never have an upgrade 12.4 to 18.1....
I was assuming a fresh install on old hardware.
I think it has an Asus MB with AMD A10 7800 with IGP.
I can't remember weather it has 4 GB or 8 GB RAM.

I think it has a 128 GB SATA SSD.
Is she running core or lite right now? Hardware doesn't look bad for updating to 18.1. 8 gig better than 4 for memory though. And you managed to install Zorin on that Asus before, which is a plus.
So seems a good indicator that it will work...
good luck.
I would say install Zorin 18 lite...
With this Hardware, I would think, it could be better to go with Zorin 17 Lite. When it should be neccessary to install the 5.15 LTS Kernel, it can be done with installing it from the Repo's.
Archive isn't neccessary. Zorin 17 Lite can bedownloaded directly from the official Zorin Mirror Servers:
And the Checksum is still listed with the others:
Thanks @Ponce-De-Leon i couldnt find it...lol
