I see v18r3 leaves out Gimp

Good. I use Pinta. Why not install that? Very lightweight.

Consider leaving out Libre Office. Like most normies, I use Google Docs.

Speaking of Google, why not install Chrome? 76% of people use it. You could make a deal with them to promote Zorin or even pay you.

I don't understand the paranoia about Google. Linux is all about getting rid of WINDOWS/APPLE. One thing at a time. If you have an Android phone, Google already spies on you quite thoroughly.

Other things you should install:

Tweaks
Extension Manager
Weather O'clock
Clipboard Indicator
Blur My Shell
nautilus-admin

Because it would be bad to be bind on Google. They dominating already way too much. It would create a Dependency that could lead to interfering in the Development.

Yes, and what do You think they would do when they have the Chance in a Linux Distro to do that? Even when only Google Chrome is preinstalled?

I've been using Chrome on Linux for four years with no ill effects. So have millions of people using Chrome OS.

When you're trying to mass market a product, you shouldn't leave out something that 76% of people use.

It depends on your threshold for ill effects.
Many of us have experienced some rather disconcerting target market advertising that makes it abundantly clear that we are being monitored.
Privacy becomes nebulous and having privacy is not the same as having something to hide.
Imagine working in a major financial institution and needing to disable your android phone before entering sensitive areas of the building - nothing to do with electronics or static discharge.

When it comes to opinions, we can present a case, but present it while staying aware that does not mean our opinion is the Correct Way - and should be applied en mass.

ZorinGroup had to make a choice because Zorin OS had to come with a default browser.
They prioritized end user privacy in their decision.
Why use chrome, if something else works just as good, but also covers issues that are important to a large percentage of the base?

There just is no need to debate it.

Money is a good reason. Imagine being the only distro that comes with Chrome. Make a deal.

I know the Linux community is dominated by leftists (dare I say Marxists?). Go the other way.

We're not doing this and yes, your warning is official.
You have a high propensity to jump on the forum once in a blue moon and post extreme political views including claims that lack any merit like this one.

You won't get a forth warning.

I will only say check out Lunduke's vids.

BTW, I have been on this forum for four years and contributed quite a bit. I have also posted pro-Zorin stuff all over the internet in those years.

Kicking a friend in the teeth is not a very good policy.

Good job. That does not grant immunity from the guidelines.

Nothing more on political topics.
Clear.

There are many distros that come with Chrome as the default. The most apt one for this conversation would probably be Linux Lite, as it also targets newer users to Linux. I do not believe any money has changed hands between that project and Google for that to happen.

Well when you here of international journalists who have used Google docs to record war crimes have had their account deleted together with their YouTube channel then no, Google is not a good idea.

With regards to GIMP I think it was decided from the outset of 18 if not 17 not to include GIMP and other software to reduce the footprint of the .iso following feedback of users. There is nothing wrong with GIMP. In the end it is user choice that matters.

A comic about Chrome: contrachrome.com
And in the GNU/Linux world, when you want to use a browser as compatible as possible to Chrome, there is:
snapcraft.io/chromium
flathub.org/fr/apps/org.chromium.Chromium

Also note that GIMP has a linguistic problem at the moment:
forum.zorin.com/t/zorin-18-beta-feedback-discussion-thread/51057/462

Gimp doesn't have any linguistic problem :

Which version from which source?

I’m talking about the GIMP available by default from the traditional Zorin/Unbuntu repositories as a Debian package (with the APT command).

flatpak, the apt is really too old on Zorin/Unbuntu repositories

APT = 3.0.4
flatpak = 3.0.8

The apt is really too old? Not for me.

But there is no linguistic problem...

A script to install the APT version of Gimp with the language package.

#!/usr/bin/env bash

sudo apt install gimp -y

sudo apt install alien -y

wget -O /tmp/gimp-lang.rpm https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/lalala123/standard/noarch/gimp-lang-3.0.4-3.23.noarch.rpm

sudo alien -d /tmp/gimp-lang.rpm

sudo apt install ./gimp-lang_3.0.4-4.23_all.deb -y

rm /tmp/gimp-lang.rpm

rm ./gimp-lang_3.0.4-4.23_all.deb -f

sudo apt purge alien -y

sudo apt autoremove -y

"GIMP has known issues with language support , particularly depending on how it is installed and the version used.

  • Version and Distribution Issues : Some distributions (like Linux Mint) ship GIMP with limited language support, often only allowing US English or the system language . This means users cannot manually switch to other languages via the interface settings. For full language options, users may need to install GIMP via Flatpak or use an unofficial PPA (e.g., ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/gimp on Ubuntu-based systems).
  • GIMP 2.10 and Earlier : Older versions like 2.10 have been reported to ignore language settings and default to the system language, even when manually changed in Edit > Preferences > Interface > Language . Clearing the configuration folder (~/.config/GIMP/2.10 or %APPDATA%\GIMP\2.10 ) sometimes resolves this.
  • GIMP 3.0.2 Bug : A confirmed bug in GIMP 3.0.2 (Ubuntu 25.04) prevented language changes from taking effect, even when set to German. This was fixed in GIMP 3.0.4 , so updating to this version resolves the issue.
  • Language File Location : If language options are missing, check the share/locale directory in the GIMP installation folder. If language subdirectories (e.g., de , fr , hu ) are missing, the installation likely didn’t include them.
  • Manual Workarounds : Users can manually edit the gimprc file (located in ~/.config/GIMP/2.8 or similar) and add (language "xx") where xx is the desired language code (e.g., de , fr ), though this only works if the language files are present.

In summary, language support in GIMP is inconsistent across versions and distributions , but the issue is often solvable by updating GIMP, using Flatpak, or installing a full-featured version.

However 3.04 is only available as a .deb for Ubuntu 25.10:

https://ubuntu.pkgs.org/25.10/ubuntu-universe-amd64/gimp_3.0.4-6.1_amd64.deb.html

For those of us "raised" on Microsoft Office, Google Docs is not that comfortable. It's workflow is not instinctive for me. LibreOffice is.
