In Synaptic, click on [Settings] then select [Repository].
It should be pointing to the the main server, not the local server.
Mine look like this:
It needs an explanation since it is in Japanese.
Where you see the triangle, that should say "main server".

Is the Zorin Settings app failing to open?
Try reinstall:
sudo apt install --reinstall gnome-control-center
You can open Software & Updates from the Zorin App menu.

If it were fresh install, I'd suggest you to wipe the disk and start over (after making a backup of your data).

I understand how you feel 
But it will gives you one additional experience for Linux installation.
I told this to myself when I had to RMA my motherboard 2 times and had to reassemble everything 2 more times for my main desktop some years ago.

grazie per il tempo dedicatomi, pero' anche riformatando ho paura che ricapiti avrei preferito trovare la soluzione anche perchè la distro mi piaceva ed aveva raggiunto il suo equilibrio
Are you trying to install Zorin 15,3 or 16?
ho installato la Zorin 16, dopo esperienza arch linux ( prima manjaro poi garuda) ma stanco dei continui aggiornamenti come tu ben sai, qui credevo d'avere trovato qualcosa di piu semplice.

Did you download the installer from official site?
How did you make the installer USB?
Etcher? Unetbootin?

SI si certo, installo sempre da sito principale, ho usato rufus, sono in dual boot con windows
Did you check the sha256 of the downloaded file?
