i wanted to try zorin on my 2012 macbook air , i used the live to test everything which all seamed to work so i started the install to a 250Gb thumb drive as i dont want to damage the mac drive , i did a custom install and picked the sandisk thumb drive as "/" , the ssd was tested at boot and no problems found and the thumb drive is known good and tested on my mac but as soon as the install went to copy files to the thumbdrive the installer crashed
You need beneath the / Mount Point an EFI Partition, too. And did You tried it with an Offline Installation? Or at least without installing Updates?
i tried both off and on line , so what mount points do i need to create ?, i will use the mac to select which drive to boot by pressing the option key (alt)
You need 2 Partitions:
- An EFI-Partition with ... let's say ... 300mb
- For the Rest of the Drive, You take the
/Mount Point and format it toext4
tried that but installer still crashed , got a little further in the installation though
Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? What Tool didYou use to create the bootable USB Stick? Did You checked the Checksum of the ISO?
this is a macbook air so no bios available , the live part runs very well and the startup on the live boot checks fine its just the writing files to the thumb drive is the issue
Did You tried a different Thumb Drive or alternatively an external SSD?
i have used the same setup on a very old laptop which worked fine but that laptop was not powerful enough to run zorin usefully
I would suggest for Testing to use a different Thumb Drive or external Drive to see if it works or not.
