Install Zorin in Multi Partition with Encrypted Root and Home

Installing Zorin OS

I'm using Zorin 18.1 with default partition installation (/boot/efi and root).
I need to re-install with multi partition as below:

  1. /boot/efi = 512 MiB, FAT32
  2. /boot = 2048 MiB, Ext4
  3. / = 51200 MiB, Ext4 Encrypted
  4. /home = remaining space, Ext4 Encrypted

I tried with manual partition (something else) but always crash during installation.

I tried using gparted and KDE partition manager from live USB but when installation completed and PC restarted, the boot process doesn't ask passphrase key and stop in initramfs (busybox).

I need guide for the installation procedure.

I'm not familiar with full encryption, but I think you need to create a logical volume for your home partition.

I'm not sure if the installer can do this. Perhaps this thread can help you:

Perhaps it is easier to create the separate encrypted home partition after the installation

But I'm not sure. You'd better wait until someone with more experience in hard drive encryption can advise you.

I'm not sure about 2 boot partition between /boot/efi and /boot. I just follow built partition when i tried to use Select the “Erase disk and install Zorin OS” option with LVM and disk encryption enabled (auto partition).

Hmm, so I guess you need two boot partitions for full encryption. Sorry for my question - I’d rather hold back from now on, so I don’t give any wrong advice. I also read in a guide by Tuxedo that two boot partitions are created. In that guide, they created a ~2 GiB boot partition at the beginning of the hard drive, followed by a EFI partition /boot/efi in FAT 32. I'm not sure if it makes a difference which one of them is set at first position of the drive.

Did You get any Error Messages? If yes: Can You say them?

Maybe try it without the extra /boot Partition? Create and EFI-Partition, a / Partition and /home Partition.

This error message was appear in first trial during installation process after i made manual partition (something else option) with root and home partition encrypted.

This message was appear in second trial after installation completed and restart the laptop.
I made manual partition using KDE Partition Manager from live USB with root and home partition encrypted.

Hmm ... that doesn't helo because the actual Error isn't included or shown. Is something what should be improved.

When You here type exit does the Screen come back? Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? Was this a Try without the extra /boot Partition?
