I have a Canon Pixma MG 2250 printer that I connected to my PC and at first it's been recognized and succesfully managed to print. However the second time I wanted to print, it displays some kind of printer connection error.
I found the link where I can install the corresponding drivers, however I don't know how to install it.
Apparently I need the .deb package but as I've checked the folders there's a .rpm one as well. (/scangearmp-source-2.00-1/scripts/)
Can someone guide me through the installation process please?
Thank you in advance!
PS: Total begginer here, had no prior experience with Linux before. Since I can't update to Win11 I want to try Zorin to see if it's suitable.
Under the /scangearmp-source-2.00-1/scripts/install_deb/ folder there's an install.sh file. After opening it in the terminal and executing ./install.sh it shows this error message:
An error occurred. A necessary package could not be found in the proper location.
Hi, I own a Canon printer. You need to download the Ijprinter package. Scangear is for scanning function. When you download the compressed files for both printer and scanner extract using Archive Manager. Next go to the subfolder labeled as 'drivers'. Inside the folder open the sub-folder marked '64-bit' and inside there is the .deb package. Install gdebi via terminal (just enter terminal in menu search box to launch) and enter:
sudo apt install gdebi
You will need to enter your login password to elevate you to 'root' (administrator) to install the package. Launch gdebi after installing, click on file and navigate to the .deb package as outlined above. Scangear should also have a .deb file you can install with gdebi.
I dedicated a section of printer installation in the Unofficial Manual I wrote for Zorin 17 Core, get it here in a format of your choice:
If you have issues with Document Scanner, install skanlite.
If you want a more comprehensive scanner application then I can highly recomnend VueScan
Thank you for your help, in the end I installed Windows 10 on virt-manager and downloaded the drivers. I had run into errors trying to install them on Zorin but luckily I had no problem on the Windows.
