Hi, I have a dell inspiron 7586 that has a intel cannon point-lp cvi wireless adapter. When installing zorin 17 from scratch, the adapter is not getting claimed by the OS, so I don't have WIFI or bluetooth. Is this adapter not supported? I am not a linux pro, so I am not really sure what I should do to solve this problem.
BTW, the dmesg log says:
iwlwifi: no config found for pci def 9df0/0000 rev=0x318 rfid=0x0
You could take a Look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates if there are any Drivers offered for this.
To come to this, you can to this over the Software Updater. Start it and click on ''stop''. Then click on Settings. In the opening window look for the Tab.
Or You open Gnome Software and click on the 3-Dots-Menu-Button left beneath the min/max/close Buttons and choose the Software Sources. In the opening Window look again for The Tab named above.
I have tried doing websearches using searchterm: "intel cannon point-lp cvi wireless adapter ubuntu 22.04" but little success in finding a solution.
I am wondering if a different kernel is needed, but that notion only comes from others having this problem in the early days of Ubuntu 22.04. Kernel versions have moved on since.
Have you thought about getting a low cost USB wifi adapter. If you do, check for stated linux compatibility before purchase.
I tried both linux mint and fedora but was unsuccessful in finding a linux OS that supported the network adapter. So I guess I am stuck having to find a low cost usb adapter as you suggested.
Hmmm, I have another Dell Inspiron which is a 7590, with the same Intel Cannon chip set and there is a driver installed and it is working. So now I am really stumped. The 7586 was my nieces' college computer and the college had the laptop bios set up with boot security enabled. I have reset set the bios back to factory defaults and now I am concerned that maybe something in the bios is causing the driver not to be loaded.
