To Omnimaxus' point about saving a program to have it on hand, there's another container format that was mentioned in the video above, called "AppImage." It doesn't have the security protections that flatpaks have, but otherwise brings many of the benefits of Snap/Flatpak, with the familiarity (for a Windows user) of downloading a file and running it. AppImages are large, single files that contain everything a program needs. You just double click it and it runs. I still prefer .deb, but if I'm using a container format, AppImage is my favorite. The biggest disadvantage there is that they often don't update themselves, so you need to manually look for updates.
