Internal mic not working on Zorin 18 – works on Zorin 17

Hi,
Internal microphone is completely silent on:
Zorin OS 18 (live USB)
Ubuntu 25.10 (live USB)
But works perfectly on Zorin OS 17 live USB.

Laptop: ASUS VivoBook
Sound card: HDA Intel PCH – Realtek ALC256

It seems as this problem is not yet solved:

You could take a look at this thread and try the solutions that are mentioned there:

Edit: Sorry, on live USB you can't test this options because you need a reboot and the changes aren't saved (except you use a boot-stick with persistence).

Is the Mic at least detected?

Added to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:
options snd-hda-intel model=alc256-asus-aio

Mic now seems to works.
Still testing on full Zorin 18 install.
will update.
