So I have Helldivers 2 and would like to get Voicemod, but they don't work on Linux. Is there a way to emulate windows for those two, without switching to windows?
Hi. There are two options.
The first is to see if they work with WINE (Wine Is No Emulator). WINE uses .dll's (dynamic link libraries) in order to tun Windows applications on GNU/Linux. To check if it is supported you need to go to codeweavers.com and use their search function. You could also try a demo for 14 days of their Cross-Over product. Codeweavers is the commercial arm of the WINE developers.
The only other option would be to run a VM of Windows using virt-manager.
Do You play over Steam?
For Helldivers 2, if it is the Steam version, try Steam’s Proton first rather than a full Windows VM. A VM is usually worse for games unless you set up GPU passthrough. Voicemod is the harder part because voice changers often depend on Windows audio drivers/virtual devices, so Wine may install the UI but not the driver side. If the goal is just a voice filter in Discord/game chat, Linux-native options like EasyEffects plus a virtual audio sink are usually less painful than trying to emulate Voicemod.
