Just a share about smartphone auto-correct on Android

I was getting very frustrated with auto-correct whilst posting on a different forum earlier today.

'system-config-printer' kept being interpreted as:

'systemic con five printer' :scream:

Here is how to turn off auto-correct settings, some bits you may need to keep. Hold down the comma button on the left and a cog appears on the keyboard, click on it:

Select the bottom option and then select text correction:

Then turn off the settings you don't want:

Could be useful for some people, although I don't use the standard Android keyboard myself. I regularly type in Spanish as well as English, so I use GBoard, which switches seamlessly between the 2 languages, even within the same text. I find it indispensable, because if I can’t have accents and tildes, it’s impossible to write some words – they would have different meanings. I’ve installed the dictionaries for British English and Español de España, because there are so many differences between the variants, they’re almost different dialects. It has saved my bacon many times and very rarely over-corrects anything, and when it does, you just move the cursor back and what you originally typed comes back (then tap to confirm). You can also build your own personal dictionary, and you can get an instant translation for anything complicated. I recommend it to anyone, especially if you write in more than one language. There are more than 100 supported languages.
