Hello all,
I use Zorin OS Core v. 17.2 on about seven machines, four of them all the time, the other three less often. Six of them are Intel CPUs from 2nd to 13th generation, and all works great. One machine has an AMD Ryzen 5 3400G CPU, and this one starts to crash regularly since the upgrade to kernel 6.8.0-50 - as soon as I start a browser based on Chrome (like Chrome itself of Brave), the machine crashes so hard, I cannot even change to a command line terminal via CTRL-ALT-F3 or F4. Only a restart revives this machine in that state.
Can you point me in a direction where to start looking for clues, for example how to gather crash logs from a browser or the kernel? I am more of a user than an admin person. Thanks!
I have a 3200G and Brave. And I don't have any Crashes. And with the Kernel before, You say it runs well? If You should have Firefox installed: Is this Behavoir there, too? And are the Chrome Browsers Flatpaks or .deb Versions? Do You have Add-on's installed and if yes: which one?
For Logs there is directly a Program called ''Logs''. It is preinstalled. You can simply search it in the Search Bar.
Yes, with the kernels before, things ran stable. I will boot with an older kernel and verify. I have not used this machine much for surfing, it is mainly a secondary Plex server that was supposed to become my "workstation" when I am at my parents' place. That is when I noticed this issue.
Firefox runs stable. Google was installed as Flatpaks, not sure about the Brave browser, though. There are no browser-add-ons installed. I will check all this and post here. Thanks also for the hint with the application "Logs" (something new learned)!
