OS: Zorin OS 18.1 x86_64, Kernel 6.17.0-23-generic, GNOME 46.0
When I enter a wayland session, whatever I type will be typed in qwerty, regardless of which layout is chosen in the settings. This is a problem because I use azerty.
What is strange is that it originally behaved just fine, and after a reboot suddenly didn't. At some point I made a custom locale (copied /usr/share/i18n/locales/fr_FR, named it fr_CU and made modifications), so that might be when it happened, but if so, I didn't connect the dots at the time. Changing this locale to not include my custom file does not fix the issue.
localectl set-keymap fr and localectl set-x11-keymap fr both say "Setting X11 and console keymaps is not supported in Debian" . setxkbmap -layout fr says "warning: Running setxkbmap against an Xwayland server".
In waiting for a solution I have been using the xorg session which is painfully slower on my computer.

As-tu regardé dans les paramètres de Zorin à la section Clavier ? et aussi dans la section Système > Pays et langue ?
Yes, my system language is en_US and my keyboard layout is fr. Every setting behaves normally in the xorg session. Even adding a keyboard layout and switching to it in the wayland session has no effect, it functionally stays in its fallback qwerty.
Sorry for that, but Wayland is a mess, and from here I don't know how to help you...

These Commands doesn't seem to work because You are on Wayland. And they work only in X11.
Maybe this has something messed up.
When You remove here in ''Input Sources'' the 2nd '' A user-defined custom Layout'' and then reboot, does it change anything?
The problem is now fixed !
I hate to admit I am not sure if removing the user-defined layout or changing the locale back to only defaults was what fixed it, (I might not have rebooted when trying the latter) but it's one of those two hopefully anyone with the same issue can try both. Thanks everyone
