LIttle Mac Layout Tweak "Minimize"

Hi All!

I'm new to Zorin 18 Pro (Mar 2026). I'm using the Mac-style layout from the Pro Appearance Theme options, on a 2014 iMac i7 Intel.

So far, I'm loving it! However there is a little thing I'm curious about. (I'm sure there will be others one day soon).

Is there a way to add a minimize "__" button on my app windows?

I 'think' the lite versions left that as it was, but not in Pro. Essentially talking about the 3 small icon buttons on the left or right upper corner of app windows-- you know- 'full screen' (square), 'collapse full screen' (square on square), and 'minimize' (underscore line).

I'm really missing my underscore/minimize line.

(Oh-- I realize I can right-click on the top line of some apps like Chrome which of course is fine if there isn't a tweak for this)

Anyone have a mod/adjustment to get that back?

Try this:

  1. Open the Zorin Appearance app from your menu.
  2. Go to the Interface tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Look for the Titlebar Buttons section.
  4. Ensure the toggle for Minimize is switched ON.

Welcome to the Forum!

An Alternative to @wsmather's Way would be to use gnome-tweaks and there go to the Window Tab. There are 2 Toggles for activating the Minimize and Maximize Buttons. You can install it with the Command sudo apt install gnome-tweaks
