Just got done replacing win 11 with zorin and had a question.
Every time I try to right click an app to create a shortcut on the Home page,it opens the app instead of giving me the option to add it to the desktop.
I've gone into settings and set up the touchpad/mouse to have a right and left click, but for some reason the large touch pad on my HP Spectre x360 is acting like it's one large pad.
Any thoughts about what I am doing wrong?

Welcome to the Forum!
When You use the Zorin default Start Menu, You should have a ''Add to Desktop'' shortcut in the right-click Menu in the Zorin Start Menu.
As an Alternative, You could use the Gnome Extension Add to Desktop - GNOME Shell Extensions which You can install for Example with the Extension Manager. There You get an ''Add to Desktop'' Option in the right-click Menu in the App Grid (press fast 2 Times the Windows/Super Key).
Hi, and welcome!
Just to confirm: is this an issue with adding shortcuts to the desktop, or with the touchpad not working properly? I understand that the goal is the former, but are there any other actions that you cannot do as a result of the latter?
For example, opening the context menu when you want to change the wallpaper or display a file's properties.
I assume it's not the touchpad because it seems to be working normally. It's that when I try to right click it doesn't do anything but open the app, no options come up.
You could install gnome tweaks and then at mouse and keyboard enable mouse click emulation
Turn off secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS (and if you have Dualboot with Windows also turn off fast startup in Windows).
For better driver support a newer kernel could be helpful for you with your new machine.
Does the right-click action work everywhere else, though? Try on the desktop, to see if there's a context menu popping up, for example.
And when You hold the Finger on the Pad when You are on a File? Do You get then the right-click Menu?
This looks simply the primary button swap on Settings > Mouse & Touchpad plus single click to open files. Or maybe only this one
