I have tried to contact the developers of Professional Fishing 2 by way of Steam but thought someone here might be able to help in case they don't reply to me or it takes weeks for them to
Here is the message I sent to them it explains my problem .... by the way I have more than 40 games downloaded from Steam and most have a lot higher spec's than this one ....

Which Proton Engine have you tried?
I tried Experimental and Hot Fix both of them reacted the same way .... there is a website that you can open to show which games are compatible with Steam but I forgot the website do you know .... it is Proton something or other ....
I guess I better add that the game does launch but while loading when it gets to the Loading Terrain Assets in the game it starts downloading but the spinner that shows the download speed gets slower and slower until it freezes after about a minute the game will crash back to the Steam Home page .....

Demo uses much less video memory because it contains fewer terrain tiles and assets. Your laptop has a GTX 1650 Mobile with 4 GB VRAM, which may not be enough for the full version on current settings.
Most games will allow you to go to the Settings Menu so you can change some of the Video Settings but this game for some reason does not .... EX. I could change the setting from Ultra to say Medium or High .... kinda like The Sword of Damocles .... LOL

Specs say Minimum of 2GB VRAM but recommend 8 .... I would think that it would still run on the 4GB I have but it doesn't and no way to get past the Loading Terrain Assets to change my Video Settings ..... to Medium or Low ....

I'm also doing research on transferring some 8G of ram to my 4G VRAM .... lots of info on using Windows 10 or 11 but so far nothing on Linux ..... if I can just get into the game I can lower the specs and then transfer the VRam back .... if that is possible .... thanks again ....
Interesting .... seems game is not supported yet .... this from Proton.com
Try Proton PLus and install Proton GE for your game.
Sorry that didn't work either ..... but atleast I have other options now to choose from when using Proton ..... LOL .... thanks ....
Oh happy day ..... the developer sent me another message ....
The only way we can change your game's configuration to see if it starts is if you send us your local save file, which is located in:
C:\Users[YourName]\AppData\LocalLow\MasterCode\Professional Fishing 2\playerGameData.sav
This way, we will open it ourselves, lower all the settings to the minimum, save it, and send it back to you with those changes so you can test if it works this way.
Add me as a Steam friend so we can do this privately.
Looks like they are really trying to help with this problem instead of just ignoring me .... sure hope this will work .... I was going to try and move some of my 16g of RAM .... maybe 2-4g to my VRAM to start the game .... make changes to to my video settings in the game and then move it back if I needed to but the offer from the developer seems like a better way to go ..... but then maybe not ....
I just realized that the instructions that were given were for Windows .... the copy of my laptop specs I gave them showed I am on Linux .... I checked in my Home Folder and I can't find anything that looks like what they want except a data folder that contains the game and is 17.1g in size .... anyway I let them know so we'll see what happens ....
Well I have not heard from the developer so I guss this is a dead issue ..... doing some housekeeping on old posts so this one also gets closed ..... LOL
Cost me $24 as I'm sure I can't get a refund after this long .... 
The requirements on games is getting insane. It used to be just little jumps were required. Now games are going from requiring a 10-series card, to a 30-series card. I'm not saying for your game, I'm saying for many games I've looked into. They want as much RAM and VRAM as possible. I actually have a good amount in my system.
I've noticed a weird issue, where games with lower requirements then my system, are running like slideshows most recently, or I can't even launch a game at all with any Proton, likely cause game comes with DRM that hates Linux users, and Proton compatibility layers, and considers any changes in Proton, a separate game activation to lock me out.
I am currently at a gaming furlow, when it comes to playing newer games then Doom The Dark Ages. Knowing my luck, for all I know, maybe my computer needs restarted. Sometimes you never know with computer's, on why things happen.
I must have bought and refunded 5 games this month, cause either I couldn't launch them, or ran unplayable.

Did you find an answer to my question about game not starting ..... the minum requirements for the VRAM in the spec's is 4g my card meets that requirement ..... but as I said I can't get the game to open to change the video settings and I'm not sure what the efault settings are ....
You replied to me about you could change the settings if you had my local save file but the instructions were for Windows and I run Linux Mint can you give me the instructions for that OS ?????? ..... if I can find where the game files in Mint are saved can you use that file ????
By the way I have a ton of games from Steam run on Linux with no problems ..... just a few

So I'll see what the reaction is I also don't know how large the development team is or if they are versed in Linux ..... maybe if I found the saved game file in Linux he could use it but I can't seem to find it ...... 
Try right clicking the game in your game list, and go to brouse files. It should open Nautilus where the game files are located. Maybe you'll find your game save there?
Will that work on Nemo also ???? ....
Whatever file manager is default, so if thats Nemo, then yes. What matters is, it might gain you access to your save file.
have you tryed Bottles yet making a gaming bottle then point to installer and see if that gets it working?
Well sadly the problem was solved but only by Steam refunding me the cost of the game .... as it appears that my GPU is unable to load this game ... I can't justify the cost of a new GPU card just to play one game ....
I went back to playing Fishing Planet which is the most realistic fishing simulator of all the fishing games I own .... Call Of The Wild: The Angler was a close 2nd but they abandon the game so there is no support or development of new material .... Russian Fishing is not to bad ..... so as you can see I can still wet a line without any trouble ....
I grew up fishing for real as a young boy taught by my grandfather to enjoy the sport at any early age progressing from worm fishing for Bluegill to fishing in bass tournaments in the southeast US and saltwater species in Florida ....
Your tale reminded me of my first real fishing experience. A member of our teenage collection of friends called on me to join them on a fishing expedition. We went yo the local 'pit bonks'. These were remnants of a claypit, full of fresh water with freshwater vegetation.
So the gang took it in turns, some for half-an-hour. The boy who owned the fishing rod but not the net passed it to me to have a go.
In minutes I thought I had got the hook caught in the vegetation and I was struggling to get the line free. He helped and yes I caught my very first fish. I can't remember the name but it had a pale silvery white colouring with a single concealed spike with a 'sail' ligament to retract it.
The fishing friend was so mad that I had caught a fish in minutes that he trashed the catch net ... which he had borrowed!
Ahhhh .... the joy's of youth ..... life was so much simpler then no cell phones no social media no way near the peer presser at school but then I was raised in the country on a 20 acre farm so life for me was a bit different ..... LOL
