I'm on Zorin OS 17 Pro and I want to lock my screen automatically after X times but without blanking my screen. For now, I disabled the "Blank Screen" settings but I have to manually lock my screen. Is there a way to automatically lock the screen without the "Blank Screen" setting to ON ?
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.screensaver idle-activation-enabled false
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power idle-dim false
If that doesn't work, you can just reset them to 'true'.
You can also try:
sudo xset s noblank
Or the unblank Gnome extension:
I'm not sure... I have auto-off and auto-lock and auto-dim and screensaver disabled, and I've just set up a key combination to blank the screen:
Super + L
gnome-terminal -- /bin/sh -c 'xset -display $DISPLAY dpms force off > /dev/null 2>&1'
The unblank gnome extension does what I wanted.
Thank you for your quick answer!
Funnily I was looking at unblank earlier but I did not post as it did not appear to work on my VM.
