Mac Keyboard layout issue

Hi,
I am new to Zorin OS and have installed it on my mid 2014 imac. I have both the wired and wireless mac keyboards. I prefer to use my wired keyboard due to its numerical pad. I cannot seem to find a layout that allows me to use the numerical pad. I have tried the UK Macintosh layout without success. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, not clear if you are running 17 or 18. As you have just joined I have presumed 18. In my search using Ubuntu 24.04 in search criteria I get:

To get the numeric keypad of a Mac wired keyboard recognized by Ubuntu 24.04, first ensure that the "Mouse Keys" feature is disabled, as it can interfere with the numeric keypad functionality. This setting can be found in Settings > Accessibility > Pointing and Clicking, where the option "Control the pointer using the keypad" should be turned off.
Additionally, if the numeric keypad is not functioning as expected, it may be due to the Num Lock state being inactive or the keyboard layout not being properly configured. You can enable the Macintosh-style numeric keypad behavior by going to Settings > Region & Languages > Input Sources > Options > Miscellaneous compatibility options, and enabling "Numeric keypad keys work as with Macintosh".
If the keypad still does not work, verify that Num Lock is enabled; on Apple keyboards, the "Clear" key (located top-left of the numeric keypad) functions as the Num Lock key.
If needed, you can also use the command gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.keyboard numlock-state 'on' to set Num Lock on, though this should be run as a regular user, not with sudo.

Do You mean the Keys from the Num Pad doesn't work? Maybe a stupid Question but is Your Num Pad active? Is there an Indicator Light that shows that it is active?

Thank you for your response. I don’t think there is a key to turn the numerical pad off and on. When I used Mac OS the keyboard worked without having to make any changes. I have reverted to my wireless Mac keyboard which works fine with the UK Macintosh layout selected.

Hi,
Following on from your message, I have discovered that the wired Mac keyboard does have a NUM Lock key. I was not aware because the keyboard worked out of the box with Mac OS. Thank you for your help. I am now using my wired keyboard.

Which key/key combination did you use to unlock the numpad?

Hi,

The is on the numerical pad and has a rectangle with a cross in the centre. Press to turn on and press to turn off. Hope this helps.
