Map/point Zorinś home folders to other folders?

I am new to Zorin and installed today on my laptop. I have a Synology NAS with shared folders that I use, such as Shared documents, Shared downloads, Shared music, Shared video etc.

In Win10 I could just move or point the standard folders My Downloads, My Music etc. to an alternative location,
So, I would remap the My Downloads folder (on the WIn system drive) to the folder on the Synology (Shared Downloads)

As said Iḿ new t Zorin, so don´t know much about terminal commands etc.

Can someone provide a dummy step-by-step description on how to achieve this on Zorin?

Much appreciated !

Welcome to the Forum!

Maybe this could help You:

First of all, thanks for the help. I tried the first solution Automount Drive #2, but that didn't work. I got an error: The target doesn't support dynamic links.
So, I guess the Synology uses a filesystem that doesn´t support dynamic links ....

Well, Ive tried several things so far, but nothing seems to work. Although I do like Zorin I decided to refer back to Windows. In my opinion some things are just to hard to do and I dont like that I need to take a deep dive in Terminal commands etc. I had hoped that for a user friendly OS a lot of things would be possible through for example a right-mouse-click, but thats not the case.

So Im sorry, but for me Zorin needs to be developed further before I will say goodbye to windows ..........

Sorry to hear that you have problems with Zorin OS. Maybe next time

Probably, and that's a good reason that I hadn't thought of when I made that recording as to why I don't like this method of doing things. This is why I said things like:

That said, you can still have it your way by changing the order of steps a little bit: first mount your external shared folder or drive, and then create the links to the mount points. Although this is more cumbersome.

Don't be. You tried, which already is more than what most people do!

You don't need to do so, but it's easier to provide instructions in the form of a command that you can easily copy and paste, than to walk you through a myriad of menus, submenus, dropdown menus, etc. If something doesn't work, there's usually a error message that you can just screenshot. This eases communication greatly when troubleshooting issues.
