I'm not able to find this flatbedscanner in Zorin 18.1.
Sane-find-scanner detects the scanner on the usb-port, but scanimage -L does not find any scanner. This scanner works 100% fine in Windows 10.
Native Linux drivers for the Medion MD 90091 scanner do not exist from the manufacturer. It is a legacy USB device from 2003, which makes it challenging to use on modern Linux systems.
Have you tried VueScan from the software catalog?

VueScan is not free, you can try a Demo before purchase. I think they are going through a hard patch as when I downloaded the latest they are asking existing users for a donation to kerp the project going.
You could see if Skanlite works with your scanner. This has helped other forum members in the past. Open a terminal by typing the word terminal in the search bar of the menu, press enter and type in the terminal:
sudo apt install skanlite
Next press enter and you will be asked for your login password to elevate you to 'root' (adminstrator) in order to install the application.
No guarantees this will work but it did with my Canon LiDE 600F without any drivers from Canon.

i use an older xp flatbed scanner so i use Xsane lots of free choices
Vuescan does not recognize this scanner
Also skanlite and Xsane are not recognizing the scanner. lsusb finds it on Bus 001 Device 002 : Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05da:3022 Microtek International, Inc. Scanner 4800dpi
ya im showing that you have listed above as a Chinese made unit which is very difficult to install and get working properly on linux..not sure what your budget is but maybe might have to purchase another scanner if you really need it...search scanners that work with linux.....good luck

It's a Medion scanner from 2003 and still works fine under Windows. Now while I'm trying to switch to Linux ( any distro ), it appears that there a chip onboard "Microsoft only", which sounds pretty strange to me that Linux is not able to detect. I have a very old Mac all-in-one from 2005, and all hardware is detected smoothly by latest Linux Zorin, Mint and Ubuntu. I'm using this scanner weekly and simply out of environmental principle, I don't want to throw away a total functional working device. And you're right : how do I find a new scanner at the shop, that will work with Linux out-of-the-box ?
so have ya tested vuescan? its not a free program it puts a watermark on the scan but you could at least test to see if it works. ah i just read up even vuescan dont see it either?...now thats wierd. my scanner is from xp days and works fine on here she is a U650 canoscanner

If you are looking for a scanner that works with GNU/Linux then I recommend Canon LiDE. I have an old Canon LiDE 600f - it did not work until I installed Skanlite - and it now works flawlessly. If you are looking at an all-in-one printer, Canon again, as they have Linux drivers - I differentiate Linux from GNU/Linux here, because Linux is the kernel where drivers reside, GNU is the OS.
VueScan works both with my Canon LiDE 600f and my Canon all-in-one, a Pixma TS-8151.

you can try to enable the Microtek Backend
Edit the sane configuration:
sudo nano /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
Find the line with microtek and uncomment it (remove the # at the beginning):
microtek
Save the file (Ctrl+X, then Y, then Enter).
give me the result of
SANE_DEBUG_MICROTEK=128 scanimage -L 2>&1
This will show detailed debug information from the microtek backend. Look for lines mentioning 05da:3022 or your device.
also you can if your using a usb cord to scanner try using them if your computer case has them... the top ports ... or front ports ...unless this is a notebook/laptop then you only have what ya have
