In Linux Mint there is the (GUI) option to select a mirror closest to me, but in Zorin it simply defaults to my region and I don't seem to be able to check which mirror I am connected to or if it is the best, so the question is, can I choose my own mirror in Zorin, preferably with a GUI option.
Thanks.
OK, forget that, I have just answered my own question. On the Zorin software tab, Download from/ Other/ find best server. The list that appears is not as exhaustive as what appears in Mint but it runs a test to find the best server, so I guess that's all we need.

Yes, the mirror list depends on the project but let it decide for you. I've found that the closest to you is not always the fastest anyway.

I always stipulate in the Unofficial Manuals that you should:
- Start Software Updater but select Stop button before it loads.
- Next select Settings button.
- On the interface that appears, go to first tab, it will show your country server. Use the dropdown button on the right and select 'Main Server' (this is Canonical's Main Server). You will be asked for your password to temporarily update your status to 'root' to make the change. It takes time for updates to get filtered to country servers, so always set it to Main Server!
