Modded minecraft crashes the intire pc

before i even start, this is my first day using linux. please dont expect me to just know certain things.

when i try to play big modded minecraft modpacks, my intire pc hard restarts. (screen instantly goes black and auto restarts)
my pc is not the greatest, but it has never ever happend to me using windows. if you guys know a fix please tell me

btw from testing this only happens to big heavy modpacks. but like i said my pc never crashed like this before on windows

Minecraft is Voxel and this can lead to some intensive rendering. So the first thing I would check is the Graphics stack.

I also would recommend using Xorg in your case, not Wayland -if modding a voxel game.

Can you provide your specs for your computer?
Or if unsure, the output from terminal of

lsusb

lspci

What we are looking for:
RAM
GPU
GPU Driver

I concur, running in Xorg is the best choice, to accomplish this.....

(1) Restart your computer.

(2) When your on the login screen, click on your username. A gear :gear: icon should appear, click on it, and choose Zorin OS desktop, not wayland!

Please hold CTRL ALT T in order to enter a terminal, where you will put in those commands asked of you from @Aravisian

Hopefully, we can get some information on what your machine uses.

guys sorry i was being stupid. its a driver issue with intel and a shader mod. nothing to do with the operating system. im gonna close this tread now

ok so it seems i dont know how to close this thread uhhh.... can you guys close it for me?

All closed up.

We can reopen this thread, though if needed.

An intel driver issue, yet in your O.P. you said it never happens on Windows OS, so let us know if you need to revisit this.

hi there! i made a post about this before but uhhhhhhhh i have no idea how to reopen posts sadly. (ps. heres the original post:
https://forum.zorin.com/t/modded-minecraft-crashes-the-intire-pc/55054/8?u=new_linuxer))

the fix i made on that post does work, yes. but uh.. it happend again. and this time i dont have that mod (which caused the problem).
i would love if you guys can give me a more effecient way of checking for possible driver issues with modded minecraft, as this is way more common then it sounds.

oh yea i completely forgot. last post i made someone asked why the driver issue didnt happen on windows but did here. well basicly.
it crashed my game, not my pc.
but in LINUX it crashes my pc. AND my game

Would you like the previous thread reopened?

yes (i went to sleep)

ok so i have been checking to see if my games all are having issues. yes they are. every game is running on lower fps. and sometimes crashes (but rarely)
only minecraft seems to crash on startup. could be overusing one of my components? that would make sense considering windows seems to run faster on this pc

so i guess the real question is "why is my pc running worse on linux?

To answer your question we need some informations about your computer: brand, model, cpu, RAM, graphics, graphics drivers...
