Unfortunately my previous post on this subject is now closed, being over 3 months old. Mouse cursor has disappeared on my HP ZBook
After an update yesterday, the mouse cursor disappeared again. (I checked to make sure the computer wasn't running on Wayland - it wasn't - previously I'd been told this could cause the problem). Now having the GRUB menu showing at startup, I was able to roll back to the previous kernel which worked, and then proceeded over to the Terminal as instructed in that thread, to make the change. However, when I did the next step to make it permanent, I got a different screen from before, and was not able to proceed because I couldn't understand it and didn't know what to do. I had to close the terminal, and of course next time I booted up the computer, the mouse cursor had disappeared again and I had to go through the procedure again.

None of this makes any sense to me at all. As I have stated on previous occasions, I am not conversant with geek-speak and need help in kindergarten-style words of one syllable in plain English please!!
Since the previous occasion, I did install Windows 10 as a virtual machine, but today I have removed it. The reason I installed it in the first place was to use a Windows-only app for transferring photos between my phone and laptop but this is no longer required as I have a good fail-safe method that works on Zorin.
After removing it, I tried the procedure again but had the same problem in the Terminal, trying to make the change in kernel permanent.
I'd be grateful for any help to sort this out, please, as I do not want to have to reset it every time I boot up. Thanks in advance!
