Correct. Works on the old windows machine but not the zorin one. Is it just too old to work on my machine then?
Have you tried looking in the BIOS for USB Legacy support as I suggested in previous post?

So you know how to get into your BIOS. So you can look in there for any " legacy USB support" setting (or similar), as suggested by Swarf.
If you can't find that setting anywhere in your BIOS, then please reply saying that.
It does help when you finally remember that you wrote down how to get into the BIOS...
The only thing I can find says just "legacy support" - nothing about USB. When I open that and try to enable it, I get a message that says something to the effect that if I change it, the system may not be able to properly boot the OS. So I didn't do it.
Well if it doesn't boot after changing the value you can change it back by going into the BIOS again.
I went back in to look exactly where I found it. It's under boot options is where I found legacy support. Still didn't try it since it wasn't under USB options. Bout ready to just give it up...

Assuming that would mean letting the computer update when it says it needs it... then yes.
No, you have to go to manufacrurercs website, look for drivers and manuals and there should be a section for BIOS updates. Tgis either involves downloading a zip file to be extracted and put on a thumb drive and use update tool in the BIOS which is what happens with Asus motherboards.
Sometimes it requires a Windows.exe file in which case you would need to download and run it while using an image of Hiren's Boot CD which utilises a WinPE scaled down Windows 11 image as worked for another forum member I advised recently.
I don't understand all of that, but a more tech-savvy friend said he would help me but it'll probably be quite awhile before he's able to - he's spread pretty thin...
