MS Office in ZorinOS?

Hello, I'm sorry if this seems like a repetitive question; I've been through similar questions and I still don't understand. When I bought my laptop, I got a lifetime subscription to Microsoft Office. I tried LibreOffice, OpenOffice, and WPSOffice, but I'm sticking with MS Office for now, sad as it is.

So, going through the threads on the forum, it looks like I need to install WINE (or something)? I have no idea what it is, and even then, people said there were compatibility problems; but the threads were old, so is it solved now?

I'm a total novice to Linux and I'd love to migrate completely, but I don't want my functionality to be screwed (respectfully). Whoever answers, before you answer my question, please imagine you have the audience of, say, an eighty year old. I'm not 80, but since I'm a total newbie to Linux/Zorin, I might as well be.

What about using a Web Browser based MS Office, avoiding the need to install Wine or MSOffice?

On Zorin OS, installing Wine is usually very easy.
I recommend using the terminal. You can launch it from app menu.
Then paste in

sudo apt install zorin-windows-app-support

That should install just fine, but if you get any errors; relay them here.

Once it is installed, try installing your MS Office.

Hi and welcome.

If things don't pan out, you could give SoftMaker's FreeOffice which is fully compatible with .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files. You just don't get to use advanced functions that you would get in Excel due to copyright.

Don't bother with the PDF application for Windows, it is very limited.

Alternatively, you could create a VM of Windows using virt-manager inside of Zorin and use MS Office that way. I had to do that initially during lockdown.
