Hello. I am at wits end with Zorin not supporting my motherboard's ethernet connection. Simple question. Does anybody know of ANY OS (except for Winblows) that will allow me to make use of my ethernet connection?
I now think that I will boycott Linux and try another OS. I am also going to shout to anybody that will listen my experiences with Linux. Very depressing conclusion for me to come to. To the hunt...for an OS that will do their homework in advance. This stinks. Oh well, I'll take pride in telling others to avoid Linux. Not much point in it but it'll make me feel better. Linux,,,STAY AWAY.
I understand that Your Experience so far wasn't good. But You should keep in Mind that Hardware is primary made for Windows because it is simply bigger. And Your Experience doesn't mean that everyone would have the same.
If you want to try a more recent Distro, you could try Fedora. It uses more modern/up-to-date Software and Kernel and You have a big Choice for Desktop Environments.
When you do, please direct them here so that they can read @Ponce-De-Leon's answer above. Not all hardware is compatible by the simple fact that the manufacturer needs to provide support for the operating system, not the other way around.
That's actually the reason you sometimes need to install additional drivers for things like printers or graphic cards, even on Windows.
In this regard, you might want to try a higher version of the Linux kernel. It might be easier to use a different distribution altogether that already has it, however. Some suggestions for you to look into: Fedora, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed or Endeavour OS.
These are all different "flavors" of Linux. I think Endeavor will be the easiest to install, and they also have great community to ask questions if you run into problems.
