Network interface appears with down state

Internet doesn't work

I installed it and it gave the same thing, first nobara and then zorin.

I use it by cable, by plug on the motherboard msm and I have a network adapter in the pci that doesn't work, it's only there to be msm.

I tried to solve it with chatgpt but nothing, please help me

Can you clarify what have you done, exactly? We need to know what has been attempted already, not only to make the troubleshooting process a bit smoother but to ensure no side effects.

Welcome to the Forum!

So, You have in total 2 Ports for Your Cable Internet Connection, yes? When the PCI-Card didn't work, I would suggest to remove the Card and use the Port from the Motherboard. Maybe the not working PCI-Part affects the entire System.

I've already tried disabling and enabling the driver, I tried adding an IP to enp5s0f0 but nothing worked. Apart from that, I couldn't do anything

I have a port that I connect the ethernet cable to, then I have a network card that isn't working, I just left it there, but it has nowhere to put the ethernet cable

When you were running the live usb did you have Ethernet working then and it fails after install, or it never worked?

Also if you have any modern cell phone you could try plugging in via USB to get tethered so that you can have your Internet through your phone (connected to your wifi) then to your computer so that you could run some updates that might fix the issue.

From what I gather, you have your ethernet cable plugged directly to the motherboard ethernet port. And despite that, you are unable to receive an internet connection.

Have you tried going to settings and then network, to see if Zorin is reporting that you are actually connected? If Zorin detects that you are connected, then you should see what I have in my screenshot.

However, if it reports that you are not connected, then try unplugging the ethernet cable, and re-plugging it back in again. If it still reports no connection detected, then its time to reboot your router or modem, that the other end of the cable is attached to.

In my experience, drivers are usually already provided in the Linux kernel, to drive network devices, and as such, shouldn't be an issue. What I also find interesting, is you have said that this has happened on 2 different OS's now, which further is making me wonder if there is a hardware issue.

Personally, I wouldn't keep a network card in a computer that doesn't work, I would further be motivated to remove such a card, and then buy a new ethernet card, and stick it in there, and use it, but thats just me.

Ah, okay. I would suggest - if not too much work - take out the Network Card, plug the Cable in the Port and test if it runs with the Motherboard Ethernet only.

Another Thing: You could take a Look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates if there are any Drivers offered.
