Network problems in 17

I have flirted with Zorin on and off for some time;recently I installed the latest version on a desktop, a home made assembly of parts based on a i7 processor.
The latest Zorin will not recognise the network, but a wireless card will more or less work.
I Thought ity may be the motherboard though a previous version worked OK.
I doug an old laptop out with Zorin 15 on wich worked (Slowly, Celeron with 4g ram) but after updateingf to 17 it will not remember the network driver and setings.
Can anyone help please, I know very little about linux
Thanks, John

  1. Is your system upgraded up to date?
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
  1. Have you checked for additional drivers?

  2. Please post output of this;

sudo apt install inxi
inxi -Na

Did You take a Look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates if there are any Drivers offered?

Sorry, I wiped it and tried the latest Mint XFCE.

Before I did so, I tried Fatdog and Zorin 16.2. Both work perfectly, as does Mint.
One other thing I noticed in 17.2 is that my wireless mouse (Microsoft 2000) worked when it felt like it, on both the desktop and the laptop.
I might try Zorin again later, I liked 16.2
