Good morning,
I just did the update I got from Zorin.
There is again a renewal from kernel 37 to kernel 38.
Unfortunately my computer cannot boot after the run.
I've done recovery from broken packages in recovery mode, updated the grub again, but unfortunately no PC startup.
I have now returned to kernel 37 to report this here.
Oh oh, the reports are starting to come in now where the 5.11.38 kernel is toasting installs, not good! I haven't booted my Zorin installation in a couple of days so it hasn't updated yet. I am beginning to wonder if I should, or maybe I should put a kernel lock on 5.11.38. IDK at this point.

On the other hand, the upgrade on my laptop was successful.
I only have problems on my desktop.
When I run an update of the nvidia drivers on my desktop, the new kernel blocks them.
Just updated, no errors, system started as usual. Created a Timeshift restore point before the update just for a peace of mind
btrfs + timeshift autosnap feature is a good approach for worry free upgrades but still not applicable/confirmed to Zorin OS (or any Ubuntu/Debian based distros) - Found a solution:
Install timeshift-autosnap-apt - Timeshift auto-snapshot script which runs before any apt update|install|remove command using a DPkg::Pre-Invoke hook in APT. Works best in BTRFS mode, but RSYNC is also supported (on ext4 might be slow though, but your system is automatically snapshot before upgrade/install) Features This script is a fork of timeshift-autosnap from the AUR, but adapted for usage with the APT package manager of Debian or Ubuntu based systems. Creates Timeshift snapshots with a…
I'll make sure to do a Timeshift before I update then. But I'll do it tomorrow.
I've had it searched but there are no updates to the nvidia driver at the moment
Probably the new nvidia drivers are the problem here as I have additional versions not currently installed on my machine:
N: There is 1 additional version. Please use the '-a' switch to see it

Yes they are there, how can i upgrade?
Okay, me and English are not very good at translating.
At the moment I don't really know what to do.
When I upgrade the nvidia drivers are withheld

When I upgrade the nvidia drivers are withheld
From apt-get
manual:
upgrade
upgrade is used to install the newest versions of all packages
currently installed on the system from the sources enumerated in
/etc/apt/sources.list. Packages currently installed with new
versions available are retrieved and upgraded; under no
circumstances are currently installed packages removed, or packages
not already installed retrieved and installed. New versions of
currently installed packages that cannot be upgraded without
changing the install status of another package will be left at
their current version. An update must be performed first so that
apt-get knows that new versions of packages are available.
dist-upgrade
dist-upgrade in addition to performing the function of upgrade,
also intelligently handles changing dependencies with new versions
of packages; apt-get has a "smart" conflict resolution system, and
it will attempt to upgrade the most important packages at the
expense of less important ones if necessary. So, dist-upgrade
command may remove some packages. The /etc/apt/sources.list file
contains a list of locations from which to retrieve desired package
files. See also apt_preferences(5) for a mechanism for overriding
the general settings for individual packages.
That is something i already know very good thanks.
I did it both but no result.
I can't install the new driver upgrade.
the Nvidia packages have been withheld while doing the upgrade

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

dat u om een onmogelijke situatie gevraagd heeft, of, indien u
de distributie 'unstable' gebruikt, dat sommige benodigde pakketten nog gemaakt moeten worden of uit 'Incoming' verwijderd werden.

However Kernel: 5.11.0-38-generic is installed and booting normally.
Not by me, the computer won't load into Zorin OS 16 Core with the new kernel 38
Here is what I have done:
- reverted back to nvidia-driver-460
- rebooted
- installed again nvidia-driver-470
- rebooted

No available upgrades now - or you can stick with nvidia-driver-460 with 470-5.11.0-38-generic kernel until the problem is resolved
Wow pazoff dude, you're right.
I just did what you did and it works.
I can boot into kernel 38 with driver 470 from Nvidia.
Thank you very much.
