New Phone day

This is what I got and it works well with KDEConnect and Android 15. I am pleased with it. Its fast and only took an hour to setup with settings from the cloud.

I actually bothered to read the reviews from the link you supplied and ... nearly every review dumped on this phone however if you're happy with your "Doggie" phone  then hoorah!
Personally I loathe "Smart phones" tiny screen and super invasive spying and tracking devices, for me I decided long ago google is my enemy so I use Degoogled phones currently a Pixel with Graphene OS installed that said I rarely use it and consider it a waste of money mostly and feel I would be better served by a dumb flip phone.

This is sort of tangentially related, but I've wanted to switch to an e-ink style smartphone for a while. Mainly because I hardly use my phone for anything other than messaging or calling people, and hate it for basically everything else. Unfortunately I still need full android, as my job requires my phone to have specific apps.

I've been tempted to take a look at something like the minimal phone that's just coming out, as it's basically exactly what I would want. But it's preorder right now, and I haven't seen anything very in depth on how well it's going to be to use over time. That, and also I usually have a hard time trusting brand new companies to keep up support for a brand new device, but I would be hopeful for it that it works out. It even has a headphone jack!

Dumb phones, are the ones that have tiny screens, smartphones always have larger screens, in my experience. I do agree with you about the invasive spying though, companies never get enough, they always want more.

Personally though, I've lived through the dumb phone era of the later 90's early 2000's. Nope, not going back to that. I've also lived through the era of the 80's through 90's, when everything was inconvenient wired phones, where you live at one spot for awhile. Nope, not going back to that! Thats like people wanting record players again in 2025, and want to listen to monolithic records.

Never has it been easier to edit photo's, using the Adobe Literoom APP. I used to use Photoshop elements, I can't tell you how time consuming it is to blur a background, fix parts of a photo, and do all the things. Adobe Literoom is so much easier to use, quicker too! Since my phone has a camera anyways, it just makes sense.

The performance of my phone is also better then any dumb phone I've used. I got APPS I use, plus a few games as well. I also have a smart watch, where I am intentionally tracking my health by my choice, as I have health related issues now, so it helps me with that. It also lets me know when I have notifications, as well a present the time and date, and the weather as well.

I am completely with everyone about keeping companies and government from spying on us, 100%. However, unless you wish to live like its the 1980's again, good luck on achieving that! We live in a connected world, so unless you completely disconnect yourself from the internet, live like a cave man, you'll never get away from it all.

I've lived through the past, kids today take everything for granted, they don't know what the world was like, when we were kids! I'm not going back to wired phones and record players. Times have changed so much in just 25 years, most people don't even listen to CD's anymore, its easier to just stream the music over the net.

I won't go back to the past, I've lived it, I'm over it, don't want to go back. I only wish humanity to have a brighter future, and get out of this horror show were in now. And lastly, cassette tapes were horrible too, like records, they sounded worse each time you played them. Enjoy when the deck finally eats the tape, you'll be cursing then!

I don't really agree ... I recently watched a video filmed during my childhood of life in my country and it was infinitely better and simpler than today and I'm guessing this was waaaaay before you were born.

I've 100% turned into "It was better back in the old days" Why? Because it was!

I dislike this comparison. Why is it always either one or the other? I don't want to live like a cave man, but I also don't want to live glued to my smartphone.

The things we're connected to in this connected world are designed to be addictive. And most people fall for it, with very real consequences in their lives — things like being more stressed, feeling more anxiety, having fewer relationships, etc.

Technology is great, but is not without consequences. Especially when it's controlled by a handful of companies who are making absurd profits out of this. I also wish for a brighter future, but people are too distracted to care about it... bread and circus.

So, in lieu of that, I wouldn't mind taking a dive back into the 80's and 90's. Better music and movies, that's for sure :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

The 80's rule!!! Sure we were poor, but it was an amazing decade.
I don't envy young people or kids of today, living their life through a phone while their lifes drives to the unavoidable doom of the death. they missing all the fun!

I'm actually quite happy I'm seeing a lot of younger people starting to go back to physical media. They've started to realize that the "always online" and everything being a subscription nowadays is not something that is better all the time. I welcome it. Although, I will say choosing to go back to cassettes... they really did suck most of the time, I can see vinyl and CD at least in some capacity, and maybe cassette as a novelty, but not something to listen to regularly.

And this is coming from the guy that saved his Heart cassettes because he wore those out to death.
