I suppose one could say that cultural habbits die hard. lol - When you look at America you see a complete reversal to that philosophy. In America, things are made via the planned obsalescence philosophy. In other words, made to break.
In America we are razed by the philosophy of, when it breaks, throw it out, and buy a new one. This makes the manufacturing companies richer by the year, and helps to keep the low income class poorer. Companies in America will shout, "thats capitalism baby"
You know what I should in response? "Thats extortion baby!" Sorry, but I am going to call it like it is, I don't mince words when I am passionate about something that matters to me. America is known as a very high E-waste generator of a country. Not even everybody takes their old machines to a recycling center, some go to a landfill!
America spends more money on buying computers then any other nation in the world. Sometimes, some people could get away with running on the same computer for another 5-years, but choose not to, cause they want a faster computer.
Buying new computers every 3 to 5 years is not what I consider being economically sound. I am the philosophy of, buy an expensive machine, in an effort to future proof it, so it can last you 10-years. I didn't need 16GB of VRAM at the time I bought this machine, but I know I am going to need it down the road.
And even though the most I've used out of my 32GB of RAM, is about 16GB so far, doesn't mean I won't use more in the future. I didn't want to have to upgrade everything in my computer in the future, much which can't even be upgraded, like the integrated discreet GPU for example.
Yes, I most recently added another 1TB of storage to my system for another distro install in the future, but I would hardly call that an upgrade. Like I said, my planned philosophy, is that I want this computer to last 10-years.
One of the efforts that I am doing to try and make sure the hardware does last that long, is I am running the best cooler pad you can buy for a notebook, and AFMAT cooler. Keeping a computer cool, goes a long way to making the actual hardware last.
I also recently blew the computer out with air from a wall powered air blower. But surprisingly, there wasn't hardly any dust inside it, its because the AFMAT cooler has filtered intakes, so that it pushes clean air into the bottom of the computer. Cool right?
Anyways, have a look at my MSI computer thread if you would like to see all the juicy pictures that makes a computer nerd smile, or their mouth water lol. I am really happy to have you on the forum Rui, your really helping to change the stereotype mindeset.
