Maybe we can try upgrading to 5.13?
Any kernel above 5.12 will have the same result.
Zorin OS 16 is currently setup and compatible with kernel version 5.11.36, this is the latest most reliable version. I do not recommend upgrading the kernel to a later version, the chances of breaking your OS are 85%.
Zorin updates the kernel once they have gone through the new one and made it compatible. But the kernel developers themselves, have shown themselves to be extremely incompetent as of late, which is why you should never just jump to the latest one.
Any possibility to have and test it?
I am in the same position, got no wifi from same mediatek wlan card out of the box on kernel 5.11.38 but temporarily installed a 5.13.19 to get wifi working but as everyone mentioned libgcc.2.33 doesn't work which means no VirtualBox support.
