NVIDIA Drivers On 17 Pro

When I switch from 16 Pro to 17 Pro I never checked my settings in Software & Updates but did so yesterday when I discovered during playing a game I noticed that my color didn't seem as sharp and bright as before ....

So I checked in S & U and found that first the download from was set to US instead of Main Server .... no big deal I changed it ....

My NVIDIA was set to 470 ..... now I had been using 545 before on 16 Pro so I changed it back but when I tried to open Vivaldi I just got a blank screen for maybe 6-7 mins and then a very faint logo appeared ..... so I went back to S & U and changed it to 525 ..... same results .... changed it back to 470 and it worked .....

Anyone have any idea on why this is happening ???? .....

On a more positive note it appears I no longer need to use my WIFI dongle as my laptop WIFI device is once again working ..... due maybe to Ubuntu 22.4 and Zorin 17 ????? .....

UPDATE : I still need my WIFI dongle but the lights don't seem to work letting me know it is working ..... I did unplug it for a while and everything was fine but now my internet disconnects if I remove it ....

Sometimes the restricted driver can be tricky if you're unlucky. As I understand, you got the 470 driver to work? Could it be a xorg/wayland thing? Are you logged in wayland?

No just Zorin 17 Pro with a Cinnamon desktop .....

But do you have a cog appear when clicking your userbame in the login screen?

Also:

sudo apt install inxi
inxi -Ga

Yes sorry cinnamon has it's own choice ..... it is actually Gnome not xorg or wayland .....

I don't know anything about Cinnamon, but I believe it still uses Xorg. What's the output of inxi -Ga ?

Everything looks okay and I see you have one of these notorious Nvidia 1650 mobile video card :D. Seen a lot of people have trouble with it.

Anyway, you want the latest driver?

Well it really doesn't need to be the latest and greatest .... just something better than the 470 i'm presently running .....

According to Nvidia homepage, your card should be supported up to driver 535.
Try install it, and if it makes a fuss give me the output of inxi -Ga

OK will do ..... be right back because I will need to restart my machine after I download it from the Software & Update in Zorin .....

Well everything appears to be OK right now at least Vivaldi open with no problems .....

OK Storm it looks much sharper and the colors are way more vibrant ..... I couldn't understand why going from 16 Pro to 17 Pro would change my video driver but it did and for some reason I couldn't get a different one loaded ..... I was using the the 535 back on 16 Pro .....

Had 4 choices of the 535 to choose from ..... Tested ..... open ..... open kernel and the one I chose 535 server ..... ot sure which one is the right one but this worked ....

Thank you sir for your help ..... now I can shoot these pesky little wild boars that I could hardly see before ..... LOL

Any chance that you like card games mixed with space battles? It's turn based, so you can take the time for each move. There's a free demo to try:
