[OFF TOPIC]Reboot help

Hi all total newbie here.
I have a reboot rbc6000l pro have set up the air feed and turned pressure up to 50 psi. But wonderin how to setup the dials on the front one says psi why should you need tat if you have air and a guage to set the psi take it the other one is ampage.

Hey Scott:

Although the guys on this forum are very sharp, I'm not sure which one if any would know about rebooting Plasma Cutters. ... (Swarf, you know of anyone? :))

This forum is dedicated to the Zorin Linux computer operating system.

However, I did a bit of research on Gemini and this is what it spit out... (good luck, and if you need a great desktop computer operating system, remember Zorin OS.)

Your assumption is logical, but the dials serve a distinct purpose based on how the RBC6000L Pro functions.

The machine features a single physical encoder dial that handles both settings depending on the mode selected, alongside a digital display that tracks both inputs.

1. The Amperage Setting (Current)

Your assumption here is correct. This controls the cutting power of the torch.

  • How to use it: Adjust this based on the thickness of the metal you are cutting. For example, thin sheet metal (like 1.2mm aluminum or thin steel) requires lower settings around 15–20 amps. Thicker steel (up to 1/2 inch) requires turning the amperage up toward the maximum 50–60 amp range.

2. The PSI Reading (Why have it on the display?)

The plasma cutter does not have an internal mechanical regulator; it relies entirely on the external regulator and feed you just set to 50 PSI.

The display screen features a PSI/Gas Check digital readout for two reasons:

  • The "Gas Check" Mode: The machine has a function that forces air through the line without firing the torch arc. When you activate this, the digital screen reads the internal sensor's air pressure. This allows you to verify that the pressure inside the machine matches the 50 PSI you set on your compressor's external gauge while air is actively flowing. Air pressure often drops dynamically once the valve opens, so checking it here ensures accuracy.
  • Safety Lockout Protection: The machine uses an internal electronic pressure switch. If the sensor detects that the pressure falls below a safe operating threshold (usually under 40 PSI), the digital screen will throw an error code (such as E006) and refuse to fire the arc. This prevents you from destroying your torch's consumables (the tip and electrode) due to inadequate cooling airflow.

Summary

  1. Set your external regulator to 50–60 PSI.
  2. Press the mode button on the front panel to trigger the Gas Check to verify that air flows smoothly and the digital screen reads close to your target PSI.
  3. Switch back to Cut mode , dial in your Amperage based on your metal thickness, and you are ready to cut.
