Problem with emoji picker key shortcut

I have set the smile emoji picker to open with super_L + dot and the super_L key to open the applications menu. However when i press this combo both the emoji picker and the menu opens, how do i fix this?

Not at home right now to test this on a new install with Gnome, but I try to avoid multiple shortcuts on the Super key when I also have it as a single key shortcut to open the main menu.

There are tools to sort of facilitate this behaviour (called xcape) that comes by default on a lot of distros, specifically on XFCE versions (i'm unsure if it comes on Zorin Core or not, haven't checked). What it does is map the super key to another keybind (such as Alt + Esc, or whatever you want) and then you can use Super + another key easier without as many issues. I believe it functions strictly on X11 though, not Wayland:

Yeah, I agree. The Super is a little bit special and the Gnome desktop environment likes to assign it to specific options.

The solution that I proposed in the other thread was more of a hack, than an actual solution. Those settings aren't even available through the graphical interface, so...

Obviously, every one works differently, but I'd suggest sticking to the default Super+A to launch the application overview. If you are already willing to use a key combination for other things (like the emoji picker in this case), what's one more key binding?

Otherwise, look into a dedicated tool made for the purpose of remapping keys. That'd will let you customize things much further, although I personally have no experience with that.
