Problem with Firefox that makes Zorin mess up?

If you are not comfortable to open it and fix it yourself, that is the next best thing you can do. If you need any further advice, by all mean to come back here to ask question.

While you can still boot into OS, you should back up all your personal files. Just copy the entire content of Home directory. This will make your re-installation easy.

Are there other ways to back all that up other than copying it to a flash drive?

You could upload all your files to Cloud service such as Mega (which most of the moderators endorse).

Is there a chance that my files might be corrupted or something because of the faulty hard drive?

It is possible but we do not know for sure.
The most important thing at this moment is to backup immediately.
I also recommend NOT to touch the content of HDD more than absolute necessity to reduce the risk of further disk corruption.

Longer you wait, the chance for recovering your files will decrease.

Okay. That makes sense. Thank you!

Actually, if you going to take this laptop to a repair shop, you could also ask a technician to copy your personal files to a new disk.

I am sure they will gladly do that for you with a small additional charge.

And do not forget to order SSD, not HDD.

Also you can ask him/her to issue an invoice which states make/model and serial number of the new SSD. I am sure the local shop would be more trustworthy than online shops, but @Storm mentioned about a case where used HDD has been installed as a new.

I got my laptop back from the shop today. So far, everything seems to be fine.

I have an SSD now, no more HDD. And i think it's never been used before, so it should be fine.

I'll let you guys know if something goes wrong again! Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it haha
