I now had time! I booted, switched to xorg (x11) logged on & off. Rebooted and tried again four more times. Success every time. You have solved my problem. Thank you very much!
Summary: The longstanding bug of ProtonVPN corrupting Gnome keyring is solved when you disable autologin and switch to Xorg (X11).

Guess I'm just lucky. Proton VPN works fine for me with Wayland and auto login enabled.
Proton VPN work in wayland, that is not the subject!
It didn't for me and still doesn't. The gnome keyring bug is still there. But it does work on x11. Strange that other people get different results.
What you don't understand is there is no keyring bug, Proton VPN doesn't like Wayland and Zorin auto-login to store Proton Login in keyring, you melt too many things together

These are all legitimate questions and are reasons that unverified apps should generally not be downloaded - especially ones that you're relying upon for either security or privacy (which fits the definition of a VPN).
I'd imagine the one shown in the GNOME/Zorin Store comes from Flathub, which shows it as an unverified app. https://flathub.org/en/apps/com.protonvpn.www
