I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall of Proton VPN due to having an issue with the killswitch being stuck in the "on" position i.e. I cannot toggle off. I followed the instructions on the Proton site.
The problem still exists and I have reported to Proton as a bug.
Have others seen similar and is there a fix for this? proton support can be a bit unhelpful with Linux type apps.
You have nailed it as far as what the solution is in that THE VPN NEEDS TO BE OFF before you can change the Killswitch setting. This threw me as it is totally different behaviour to both Windows and Android where you can turn off the Killswitch while being connected to VPN
