Since I stopped using PS2 mouse over 10 years ago, I am afraid I cannot be much of a help. I hope other volunteers on the forum could help you.

I did not see any ports for that input in any laptop or pc the last 10-15 years. Everything is usb these days
My server grade m/b has 2 PS2 ports.
It is definitely newer than the time period you gave.

I looked around some Ubuntu and Linux forums regarding PS2 mouse.
Only pages I could find was back from 2008 -2012.
I am afraid there are not much information.
Is there any reason you need to use this PS2 mouse?
I asked since there are many inexpensive USB mice which will work OOB with Linux.
You might also try
sudo apt install --reinstall xserver-xorg-input-all
Shut down the computer and leave it shut down for about ten minutes or so. Or leave it til you come back to it...
Then boot up and test mouse.

To tell you the truth I can use my USB ports aswell. - to make short a long story ;).
I wondere why this PS2 stop working and I like fixing things.
Also I thought PS2 are more stable. My keyboard is the same.
I would like to add that I have just discovered that this is is a random issue.
Ps: Do you know if there is a universal USB control Wi Fi adpter for a wireless mouse that came with a keyboard ?.
I can use that mouse in that computer but I need another Usb device .

I am also into fixing things. So I can understand where you are coming from.
I wonder what differentiate Zorin from those OS's.
BTW, I also have MXLinux and Linux Mint running on other machines. Those are the second best distros in my opinion.

I have mouse and keyboard come with Logitech Unifying receiver.
You can use Solaar (install from Software) to setup Unifying receiver.

I Wonder the same. Also think it could be a harware issue. A long time a ago a I Had an electric problem and got the power unit burned twice I wonder if somehow it has something to do.
I dint like MX lattest version. I Thought since it is based on Debian it would run faster on that old machine.
I have Linux Mint as main distro in my laptop. But I am so tempted toset Zorin there aswell. Though it would mean to get some thunar pluggins to make it such as in LM.
By the way I edited my question at the end of my previous post.

If you are looking for a minimalist light wait distro, AntiX might be a good solution. MX is based on AntiX.
Another light weight distros are Linux Lite (Ubuntu base) and Bhodi Linux (Ubuntu base).
This is what I use.
If you can live without Ten keys, it is a good solid product.
Single Unifying receiver connects both mouse and keyboard.
oh thank you I have already bought the same set but from another brand called klipxtreme.
I dont like much its mouse to use it in my main computer where I work most of the time. So I was thinking about fixing it in this machine I mentioned at the begining. But I dont know if I can get another USB receiver

The advantage of Unifying receiver is that it is universal.
You can mix and match any Logitech products as long as it has this logo on the product.

In My case I need the receiver to make they keyboard work in my computer so that I need another one in order to my the mouse work in this computer.
Anyway I am testing again my 3 PS2 mice and it seems the one I used to use is close to its end of life and the other one has a problem in the left click. So I am afraid I might have created this post over a peripherals device problems rather than a zorin problem. I am so sorry about it.
I am testing and USB device with a PS2 adaptor and works fine.
