Question about Browser Security and Privacy on Zorin OS

"Hi everyone,

As a Zorin OS user who cares deeply about digital privacy, I have a technical question regarding browser engines.

I've been using Firefox because I find its Gecko engine to be very reliable for maintaining privacy while managing multiple social media accounts for my work. My experience so far has been great, especially with how it handles different fonts and secure logins on Zorin.

I am not trying to promote any specific software, but I want to understand if there are specific system-level optimizations in Zorin OS that help browsers like Firefox perform even better in terms of security.

I value the Trust Level I have earned in this community and want to contribute by having meaningful technical discussions. Any tips on browser-hardened settings for Zorin users would be appreciated.

Thanks!":grinning_face::grinning_face::grinning_face:

You could use instead of Firefox LibreWolf which is a hardened Firefox Fork. It has better Privacy and Securtity Settings and Changes Out-Of-The-Box.

For Firefox itself, simply a Way trough the Settings can help to change Options. Disabled Telemetry for Example. Disable AI Stuff, switch new Sites to empy Sites, Unmark startsite Content, change default Search Enginge from Google to something else, switch Browser Activity Protection (I don't know if this is an adequate Translation) to strictly or let remove all Cookies when closing Firefox. There is not less what You can do.

"Hi Ponce-De-Leon,

I am writing this because the way you have handled my profile and my contributions is completely unfair.

You claim that 'no one censored me', but the truth is that my posts were flagged and hidden. These posts were not advertisements; they were about my genuine passion for user privacy and my success in helping 19 people switch to a better browser.

By calling my efforts 'duplicates' and 'abusing forum privileges', you have effectively locked my voice and silenced a user who was only trying to help the community. This is not moderation; it is the suppression of an honest opinion.

Instead of lecturing me on how to use a browser, you should focus on why a user who supports the core values of freedom and privacy is being treated like a spammer on this forum.

I didn't do anything. Some of Your Posts were flagged by another User here in the Forum. Every User can flag Comments when he/she thinks something is wrong with them. And then it goes to the Mod Instance and we look to them and approve them or reject them.

You posted one an the same Content. Then it is a Dublicate. That is unneccessary.

You are not silenced. When You would be silenced, You couldn't post anything but You can post and Your Posts are here.

When I or another Mod would think You are a Spammer, we would simply delete Your Content and delete Your User Account. But we didn't. And I have answered on Your Topic here with Infos.

When You want use Firefox, simply use it. If You don't like Brave simply uninstall it. Brave was chosen as default Browser because of Mozilla's past Behavior. As a Privacy-focused User, I'm sure You know about this. So, I don't need to explain that. You don't have to share the Decision of the Dev's. I don't use Brave as primary Browser, too. I simply installed Firefox.

And now, You hopefully understand it. I will let the Thread open for now because Your initial Comment requests for Advice. But when this Arguing goes further, I have to conclude that You don't want understand and I will close the Thread.
