Question about ClamUI and it's _Daemon components

Complete newbie on Zorin 18.1.
I have installed ClamUI and set it to scan ONLY the HOME folder. I understand HOME is the correct and only place to scan.

I would like to set up regular scanning and I believe the ClamAV-Daemon and ScannerClient are needed. I see them as "not installed" under the components section of settings. I have ran through the terminal commands given there to install and they seem to step through things fine.

But they still report as "Not Installed" and I do not see any changes in ClamUI to show any ability to schedule regular scans.

  1. Is there a way to do regular automated scanning?
  2. Is updating the virus definitions automated or always manual?
  3. At the bottom of the "Database" section it shows "Service: Manual Mode". What does this mean?

How did you install ClamUI? As a .deb or flatpak?

If you're a regular/home user, an anti-virus application is overkill on Linux.

Try it with a Reboot. Also there is a Reload Button what You can click on:

I used the SOFTWARE application, which shows the source as FLATHUB, which I think implies Flatpack. I am indeed a "regular" (if heavy) user, but then what other types are there?

Regardless the scan goes do fast it won't cost any time to do it, so any hints on how to get the thing working will be appreciated.

Hi, I found that running ClamUI as a Flartpak in LMDE 7 did not show the scan progress bar correctly, constantly moving back and forth. I would advise you remove the flatpak version along with ClamAV and start afresh using my guide here:

Thank you.
I will try both ideas. But in the meantime I found running the following on the terminal helped:
sudo touch /var/log/clamav/clamav.log
but I also thought to Quit ClamAV from the system-tray and restart it. Now the components indicate as installed. But then maybe all I had to do was to restart the thing and did not need the log folder command OR as Ponce said: Reload!

Next I will try out your idea to see if I see any controls that will allow automated scheduled scans.

That, You can find in the Settings:

TYVM!
I see that under preferences-database there is a setting:checks per day which is set to 12.
This makes me think it updates the virus definitions automatically.
Burt every time I click check for updates, it finds a new update. If it is checking 12 times a day, then I should not be able to catch it left behind.

Does it update automatically?

Yes, this should automatically update it. Depending on the Timing, You can get Updates when You manually make them. And it is still a 0.1 Version. So, there can be Issues and Bugs.
