Questions from possible new user coming from MacOSX

Hello everyone,

I was trying to find information related to my particular needs. Perhaps someone can comment if such features are already supported, if not is this something is considered to be added, and any temporary solution if not available in latest release.

I come from MacOSX and specifically I am looking for a MacOSX Linux like bistro based on Ubuntu bistro.

  1. Is there a way to smoothly zoom desktop with a mouse wheel and Control KB button. On my MacOS, I can enable this in: System Settings / Accessibility / Zoom / Modifier key for scroll gesture / ^ Control" . This way I can quickly add smoothly zoom in holding Control button + scrolling with mouse wheel

  2. Assign "Mission Control" like options to extra mouse buttons. Again on MacOSX go to System Settings / Desktop and Dock / Shortcuts (button) / Keyboard & Mouse Shortcuts"

    a. Mission Control / Mouse Shortcuts / Mouse Button 4
    b. Application windows / Mouse Shortcuts / Mouse Button 5

Are these three "equivalent" options are currently available on latest OS? If not, are there any good plugins / modifications? Or is it on a roadmap for future releases?

Cheers

Welcome to the Forum!

For Number 1: Yes, You can zoom with holding ctrl and scroll with the Mouse Wheel in open Windows. This is a function; so, You don't need to enable it. It is active by default.

For Number 2: I only know Keyboard Shortcuts that You can set up. For Mouse I can't help You. But maybe other Users here.

Yes, these should be assignable in the Settings > Keyboard & Mouse

Ensure that the actual mouse hardware is supported with its driver in GnuLinux, however.
